Course Information

The 3-Day Night Vision Goggle (NVG) Instructor Course is designed to train law enforcement and military personnel in effectively operating and teaching the use of night vision goggles, including IR lasers/illuminators.

Curriculum

NVG Fundamentals

How night vision goggles works (image intensification, infrared spectrum)
Different types of NVGs (monocular vs. binocular, helmet-mounted vs. weapon-mounted)

Equipment Use & Maintenance

Proper mounting and fitting
Battery management and care
Cleaning and troubleshooting

Tactical Applications

Movement and navigation in darkness
Weapons integration (IR lasers, aiming techniques)
Team tactics and communication

Safety Considerations

Depth perception challenges
Bright light hazards and overexposure
Preventing disorientation

Instructional Methods

How to teach NVG operation and safety
Conducting live-fire and force-on-force training
Evaluating student competency

Practical Exercises

Scenario-based training

Requirements

Sworn/MIL only. Proof of occupation is required for the NVG instructor course . Since this course is intermediate-advanced tempo, successful candidates would typically be a firearms instructor (police combat), SWAT operator, or a member of a tactical unit (Mil/LE).

Equipment: 500-600 rounds of pistol, 500-600 rounds of rifle, IR laser/Illuminator, body armor, NVG, NVG mount on a helmet, and any other equipment mandated by the vendor.

Instructor Cadre

The instructors have real-world experience conducting operations overseas using NVGs and are the best in the business with instructor training. Depending on the course date, the NVG instructor staff's experience is from US special forces or a federal security agency (that specializes in high-risk protection overseas). A summary of the instructors is available upon request.

Registration

The 3-Day NVG Instructor Course is taught by a third-party vendor. Check the schedule for dates and pricing. If you belong to an agency or a tactical unit, the instructor cadre can travel to you anywhere in the United States with additional travel costs.
