Shaun specializes in private firearm training and tactical firearm training in the Chino Hills area that is a responsible person willing to learn safe gun handling:
- Any age 12-67 and 68 and older
- Any gender or person of diversity
- Citizens with physical limitations
- Couples of any kind

What distinguishes our services from other firearm training facilities is that we do not offer courses as a group. The firearms training in the region we offer is only offered to individuals, couples, or families.
Most of our clients in Chino Hills or surrounding areas who want to learn how to shoot a gun, may not feel comfortable in a traditional class, or maybe they feel they need extra help. If this involves you, or your family, Shaun can help!
On another note if you ever want to increase the intensity of your private shooting lesson, just ask Shaun who has a diversity of firearms and tactics-related training. Shaun can always increase the tempo to add sweat.

Intermediate to Advanced Course (Designed for More Experienced or Confident Shooters)
- Residents in Chino Hills will need to travel to the Palm Desert area or Imperial County to attend our intermediate and advanced courses.
- Some ranges charge more per hour or day for instructor-led courses; we may find a range located closer to you, however, you would be responsible for the additional range fees (some charge an extra $1,000 or more).
Our current fee structure is $500.00 per hour with a 4-hour minimum. For the new shooter, we recommend 24 hours of training broken into six (6) days with 4-hour per day. Some people are older than others or may have physical limitations. In such instances, we recommend shorter days. Of course, everyone is different and may need less or more training; however, you can never get too much training!
Fees are due 7 days before the course or lesson begins.
Q1: I 've never shot a gun before, can you help me?
A1: Absolutely! We prefer our private firearm training clients have never handled a firearm. Many beginners learn bad habits (and good habits) from well-intentioned husbands (or wives), a dating partner, grandparents, uncles/aunts, cousins, parents, cops, ex-military, CCW instructors, colleagues, and friends who are “gun people.”
Q2: Why are your fees so expensive?
A2: The fees that you pay would amount to the revenue generated from a class of 5-7 students. Instead of concentrating instructional efforts on a classroom full of students, we concentrate on one person or a few. Most of the time, 10% of the students in a firearms course divert 90% of our attention from the rest of the class.
Q3: How much training should I sign up for?
A3: That is always a personal decision. Everyone learns differently at a different pace. You also want to ask yourself “what do I want to accomplish?” Most first-time shooters who want training for self-defense will find it beneficial to attend an initial 40-hours of firearms training followed by 4-8 hours every six months. The initial training should include low-light techniques, maneuvering through your home or business with a firearm, marksmanship, gun handling, tactical medicine, and how to win a realistic gun fight or lethal force encounter. Even 40 hours is not a lot of training, but we feel most students will feel comfortable winning a realistic life and death situation, with this amount of minimal training. Most police officers get more initial training than 40 hours and even with 100 hours of training, we’ve found that new officers barely meet standards.
Q4: I attended the 2-day CCW course in California (or a 1-day course elsewhere). Am I getting the same training?
A4: No. All instructors are unique in good ways and bad ways and have different teaching styles. Second, essentially all private firearms instructors are part of a business. The more students you have on the shooting line and in class, the more money they make. Unfortunately, the more students they have in class, the less personalized attention an individual shooter receives. That individual shooter that needs more attention is very likely to develop bad habits. Third, the 2-day CCW course does not expand too much into low-light, decision making (shoot/no shoot targets), and shooting on the move.
Q5: I'm training for a detective or a police officer role in a movie. Will you train me for that objective?
A5: We offer custom solutions. We will train you how we train police officers. We do not train our students “range theatrics.” The definition of range theatrics is performing a technique involving a firearm, that does not serve any purpose other than appealing to an audience who is not familiar with firearms.
Q6: I am training for a SWAT team member role in a movie. Will you train me for that objective?
A6: Being a member of a real SWAT team has very little to do with the equipment you have or how well you can shoot. SWAT operators usually train on a weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly basis, on how to make better decisions under stress using special weapons and tactics. That’s it. SWAT operators also learn the fundamentals of shooting and practice these fundamentals more often than the “average” patrol officer. That’s it. Upon request, we will train you how SWAT operators train, however there is nothing too much eye appealing.
Q7: I am a social media influencer. Can I attend a one-on-one shooting lesson with you?
A7: Absolutely. You can set up your cameras in a way that follows the rules of the range and/or the safety standards within the firearms community. No horseplay. No stunts. No unsafe behavior.
Hi, my name is Shaun Sundahl and I am 44 years old. I am a former resident of Chino Hills. I have been happily married for over 20 years and I have a child in college. My other children are elementary-school aged. My greatest asset to the firearms training industry is that I can simplify a shooting technique for people who might struggle on the range or feel intimidated by firearms instructors.
In 2019, I authored Stalker Poison: A Safety Guide for Women Experiencing Domestic Violence and Stalking.
In 2010, I completed the 40-hour NRA Law Enforcement Handgun Instructor course and soon become a licensed Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) firearms instructor (License # TIF 2059).
In 2019 at my police department employer, I was assigned as a Range Master to the Range Training Division. As a range master, I was responsible for coordinating firearm training events and training sworn police officers in marksmanship/skills, tactics/gun handling, and mindset.
I am also a POST pistol, shotgun, rifle, red dot, and chemical agent instructor. In addition, I am on the firearms training division for the basic police academy.
In 2023, I became the first of two SWAT operators in my department 100 year + history (and second oldest SWAT student in a 35 student class). Although the SWAT team is non-operational pending the recruitment of other candidates, I regularly participate in regional SWAT training with other agencies, and I use specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities of basic SWAT tactics to train officers.
I believe that all firearm instructors who provide shooting courses to citizens, armed security, military veterans, or law enforcement officers, should be a lifetime student. When searching for a qualified gun instructor to give you shooting lessons, it’s okay to ask the instructor “When is the last time you attended a course to update your training and when?”
Below, is a list of 393 hours of firearms, tactical, or teaching related courses I have attended over the years:
• Basic SWAT School – Golden West College – 80 Hours - 2023
• POST Chemical Agent Instructor – Tricell USA – 36 Hours – 2022
• POST (CT) Low Light Instructor – Cougar Mountain Solutions – 16 Hours – 2022

• Gunfighter Pistol Level 1 w/ Mike Glover – Fieldcraft Survival – 5 Hours – 2021
