Many of you might see the other half of my Tac 11 Noontime plate carrier with a small ranger green medical pouch that covers half of the front of the carrier. I am able to fit the HyFin Vent chest seal, NAR compressed gauze, ChitoGauze® XR
(hemostatic gauze), and a NPA inside. The dimensions are 24.5*16cm and 16*16cm. Click here to be directed to eBay.
I have a packet of this hemostatic gauze designed by Safeguard Medical in my small medical pouch I carry in the front of my plate carrier. This gauze is designed to stop massive hemorrhage control. In the 8-hour NAEMT TECC course, we are taught to pack a wound with hemostatic gauze until the wound stops bleeding; if it continues to bleed, remove the gauze and re-pack with more hemostatic gauze. https://amzn.to/3W1V5k9
Do not buy any Chinese made torniquets that are commonly sold on Amazon or eBay. The average price for one legitimate CAT-7 torniquet made by North American Rescue (NAR) is in the high $20s to lower $30s range. Using my link, you will be directed to the NAR store that is on Amazon. I highly recommend that for duty carry, you have two torniquets. https://amzn.to/3LFFh1X
The SOF Tourniquet made by Tactical Medical Solutions is my favorite TQ. If necessary, this TQ will unbuckle and quickly re-attach. You normally would do this to avoid moving the limb or having to go under a limb. There is also no Velcro so that the hook will not catch on to your uniform. The windless is also metal so I don't see it breaking during application. For an authentic version, expect to pay in the high $20s to lower $30s range. Do not buy a Chinese made SOF TQ that costs $10. https://amzn.to/45XA5zL
On my tactical medical kit for my plate carrier, I have one of these high quality pairs of chest seals made by North American Rescue (NAR). Luckily, I only had to use a chest seal once in my life and will always advocate for quality equipment. https://amzn.to/3S68zdr
In my small medical bag on my plate carrier, I am able to fit this compressed gauze made by North American Rescue. The gauze is used to control blood loss and because it is sterile, it can be used to pack a wound. https://amzn.to/4cyXpGk
After my TECC course, I bought two of these NPAs that will help a patient breath easier. The purpose of the NPA is to bypass upper airway obstruction at the level of the nose, nasopharynx or base of the tongue. It also prevents the tongue falling backward on the pharyngeal wall to prevent obstruction. NPA’s maintain airway patency in patients who are conscious or semi-conscious. https://amzn.to/3WkjG5g
I bought two pairs of these shears in 2021. They are very sharp. You need trauma shears to safely cut through a patient's clothing to access the injury (or to search for an injury). https://amzn.to/463refQ
Here, I review an excellent emergency blanket that can be used to prevent shock and other medical emergencies.
