Ballistic Shield Operator (Shoot and Communicate)
Our 4-Hour RTS Mini Shield Course (Ballistic Shield Operator) in San Bernardino, California. Due to the possibility of spalling issues in a real-life shooting situation with the particular shield used, the shield operator is trained to experiment with the shooting hand behind the shield, and the shooting hand in front of the shield.
To provide the best armed security training, we can train your security organization with any shield you have.
In attendance: Primary Security Agency, South Coast Public Safety, Paiz Tactical, and APO Security.
Ballistic Shield Operator Course
1-day/ 6-8 hours
Audience: licensed private security officers, including hotel security, casino security, and campus safety and security personnel
Minimum requirements: the security agency must sponsor four (4) private security employees. This course can be designed as live-fire or airsoft. If this is airsoft only, the host must have clean and safe facility with legal access. The facility must have A/C during the warmer months, electricity, running water, and clean restroom facilities. Also, the security agency must allocate one (1) safety officer to the event.
The agency must produce one ballistic shield for every four students. We can train you on how to use the RTS Mini-Shield or any other shield.
Price: $350/per student w/ a 4 student minimum
This course is designed for licensed and armed private security officers that might find themselves in an active shooter situation either as a solo officer or having a team of 2-4 and having the capability of deploying a ballistic shield. This course is great for private security companies that want to "team building" training that could lead to higher morale and a sense of purpose. Topics include:
• 2-4 officer entry
• Team leader (TL) development
• Limited penetration and dynamic entry
• Abort tactics
• Communication
• One-handed shooting
• Reloading behind the shield and stoppages
Building Entry and Search Tactics Course
2-days/ 16 hours
Audience: licensed private security officers or those that need security guard tactical courses.
Minimum requirements: the security agency must sponsor four (4) private security employees and have a clean and safe facility with legal access. The facility must have A/C during the warmer months, electricity, running water, and clean restroom facilities. Also, the security agency must allocate one (1) safety officer to the event.
Price: $500/per student w/ a 4 student minimum
This course is designed for licensed and armed private security officers that could deploy with a team of three or four and who find themselves having to “clear” or “search” an abandoned building or client property that is “high-risk.” This course is great for private security companies that want to "team building" training that could lead to higher morale and a sense of purpose. Topics include:
• 2-4 officer entry
• Team leader (TL) development
• Limited penetration
• Low light techniques with a weapon mounted light and a secondary flashlight
• Surround and Call Out Options
• Abort tactics
• Communication
• Perimeter control
Active Shooter Training for Private Security or Public Safety Officers
2-days /16 hours
Price: $500/per student w/ a 4 student minimum.
Audience: Responsible private citizens, licensed/credentialed private security officers, or others who want armed security training. University public safety departments will find the course useful.
Minimum requirements: the security agency must sponsor four (4) private security employees and have a clean and safe facility with legal access. The facility must have A/C during the warmer months, electricity, running water, and clean restroom facilities. Also, the security agency must allocate one (1) safety officer to the event.
This course is designed for licensed and armed private security officers who can find themselves in an active attack incident (i.e. active shooter). The student will learn how to search an area on their own and form an ad-hoc team of 1, 2, 3, or 4.
This course of instruction is designed to prepare private security officers to isolate, distract, and neutralize an active attacker. This course will cover shooting and moving, threshold evaluation, concepts, and principles of team movement, setting up for and room entry techniques, approach and breaching the crisis site, secondary responder tactics, improvised explosive devices, and post engagement priorities of work.
The course will involve dynamic force‑on‑force scenarios.
Shaun is an off-duty police officer with an undisclosed agency and in charge of his department’s range program. In 2010, Shaun became licensed by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) as a BSIS licensed firearms instructor (#TIF 2059). In 2019, Shaun became part of his department’s firearm training cadre and by 2023, he was promoted to range master supervisor. Most of Shaun’s training experience was paid for out of his own pocket and in his own time. Although Shaun regularly trains police officers on all levels, his passion is training small security teams and responsible gun owners who have never held a firearm in their life.
Shaun is qualified to provide CQB and other firearm tactical training for private security, citizens, or law enforcement officers. Every year, at least 2-4 times, Shaun completes updated tactical or firearms training from reputable sources that include government or private training entities.
